SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau claimed a victory on Monday regarding a union vote of ‘no confidence’ against her.
According to numbers released by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, only 219 officers delivered a vote of ‘no confidence’ against Pamerleau.
It’s believed fewer than 250 officers voted in the non-binding poll. That’s a fraction of the 1,600 deputies that make up the BCSO force.
A statement from a BCSO spokesperson read:
While the Sheriff seeks the support of all her employees, she finds satisfaction knowing, as indicated by the lack of participation, the majority of BCSO employees are focused most on protecting the citizens of Bexar County.
Sheriff Pamerleau previously said the department and union were at odds over a labor contract. The Deputy Sheriff’s Association of Bexar County has also publicly endorsed another candidate in the race for sheriff.
