The National Fraternal Order of Police Foundations is launching a new campaign to reconnect to the public amid a disturbing rise in fatal shootings of cops across the country.
The multi-faceted campaign, entitled “Our True Heroes” will educate the public on “the positive role that law enforcement plays in our communities” on its website atourtrueheroes.org and Facebook page, according to a statement released Tuesday by the FOP.
The website and Facebook page offer detailed stories about police officers saving lives during, for example, a raging fire in Illinois or a heroin overdose in Pennsylvania.
FOP National President Chuck Canterbury said that “public support for law enforcement is at an all-time low” and that “we can and should debate the causes and work together to fix them, and the solutions will come at the local level.”
Jim Pasco, Executive Director of the FOP, also weighed on the critical issue. “The vast majority of law enforcement officers serve their communities with dignity and courage. It’s time we shined a light on their professionalism,” he said.
