SAN ANTONIO – Mayor Ivy Taylor announced on Wednesday the terms of a newly-proposed deal in the ongoing labor contract fight between the city and the San Antonio Police Officers Association.

Among the terms:

  • A 3-year evergreen clause. Currently, the city is suing SAPOA over a 10-year evergreen clause that was part of the labor contract which expired in September of 2014.
  • If a deal is reached, the city will drop its lawsuit against SAPOA
  • In the meantime. the city will file an extension with the appeals court to not file any legal briefs until April 6 in the case
  • Both sides must agree to meet five times during the month of March and effort a deal by March 31

Taylor said the city will not waiver from its position to keep the safety portion of the city budget to 66% or less.
