Dearborn police patch

DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) – For the first time, Dearborn City Council members responded to a scathing police survey.

The members told us they hadn’t seen the survey, so we made them copies.

The survey was sent to 180 officers, sergeants, and lieutenants inside the force. The survey shows 124 responded, 109 saying morale was a 3 or lower.

They also responded, detailing a lack of trust, training, and safety at the police department.

Council members Brian O’Donnell, Mike Sareini, and Tom Tafelski all promised to investigate the survey.

The mayor stands behind his chief, saying he’s reduced complaints against police, police-involved accidents, and use of force incidents.

The chief did not attend the meeting, and police unions acknowledged the survey, but for now, had no comment.
